Privacy & safety

How we look after your child's data

ThinkOtter is built for children, so privacy is part of the product, not an afterthought. In short: we collect only what we need to run the tutor, we never sell your child's information, and we never use your child's answers to train AI models. This page explains what we hold and the controls you have as a parent.

At a glance

The short version

  • We do not sell or rent your child's data.Your child's information is never sold or rented to anyone.
  • We never train AI models on your child's answers.Your child's work is used to run their session and build their report, not to train any model.
  • No ads and no external links in the learning space.A calm place for your child to focus, with nothing for sale to them.
  • The parent is in control.You create the account and you see the reports.
What we hold

What we collect

To provide the tutor, ThinkOtter collects:

  • Account details you give us when you register, such as the parent's email address and your child's first name or display name.
  • Learning activity created as your child practises, such as the answers they type, the hints they receive, questions attempted, Pebbles earned, and the session reports we generate for you.
  • Basic technical information needed to run a secure web service, such as the device and browser type and sign-in activity.

We keep the information we collect to what we need to run ThinkOtter and show you your child's progress.

How it is used

How we use it

We use your child's information only to:

  • run each tutoring session and give guiding hints;
  • mark answers and build the report you see after every session;
  • track Pebbles, streaks and progress on your child's dashboard;
  • keep the account secure and let you sign back in.

We do not use your child's answers to train AI models. Your child's work powers their own session and report, and nothing more.

Sharing

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your child's personal information. We share it only with trusted service providers needed to provide, secure, maintain, and support ThinkOtter, and those providers may process the information only for those purposes. These include:

  • Secure hosting that runs the website and the app. [ThinkOtter to confirm provider]
  • The AI service that powers the tutor, used to generate hints and mark answers during a session. [ThinkOtter to confirm provider]

We remain responsible for how these providers handle your child's information.

Retention

How long we keep it

We keep your child's information for as long as you have an account with us, so that progress and reports stay available to you. You can ask us to delete the account and its data at any time. [ThinkOtter to confirm exact retention period and deletion process]

You are in control
